Web10 nov. 2024 · I have the Pietta 1858, (from cabelas, blued) with the Taylors conversion cyclinder for 45 colt. Also have fantastic accuracy with 45 colt. I use trail boss, HDY 255 Lead, 4.8-5gr. I use 777 for cap and ball, (not so accurate, but can make a load eqiv to 38 spl.) Pull out the cylinder, drop into a mug of hot water, and it cleans istelf. Web22 okt. 2024 · They all function great. Howells makes Taylors, except Taylors uses Italian firing pins -- The Howells pins are hardened, and are better IMHO. I have several at Howells now getting new Ferules and firing pins. Most of mine are 15-20 years old, and are still going strong. Call Maggie at Howells -- She'll fix you right up!

Web14 sep. 2024 · I think your problem is the bolt not resetting. The lock notches in the conversion cyls are not as deep as the cap cyls. Since that leaves the bolt arm at a lower angle, it can't reset on top of the hammer cam and thus, the cylinder stays locked. Dragoon is right, the problem is the bolt/cylinder stop, not the hand.
